Ruth Phipps passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, 2015, surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. The visitation will be Monday, Aug. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m., at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside committal will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruth Helen Reed was born July 2, 1928, to William and Elsie Reed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She treasured time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed raising canaries and loved her flowers.
Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her children, Dan (Teresa) Null of Indiana, Wayne (Sheri) Null of Iowa, Yvonne North in Kenya, Africa, Deborah Pickner of Texas and Penny (Tim) Kriz of Iowa; stepchildren, Bonnie (Robert) Etter of Missouri, Cheri Sheronick of Iowa, Roscoe Phipps of Iowa, Diana Pierce of California and Gayla Church of Washington. There are 22 grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded by her parents; husbands, Lester Null and Roscoe W. Phipps; Patricia Hutchins and Ron Sheronick and four siblings.
