McGrath Auto buys Dubuque dealership
Cedar Rapids-based McGrath Auto Group made another acquisition with the purchase of Bird Chevrolet, a 91-year-old car dealership in Dubuque.
Financial terms of the deal, to be finalized June 22, were not disclosed.
McGrath - with more a dozen auto, motorcycle and power sports dealerships and stores and some 860 employees companywide - already operates Hyundai and Volkswagen dealerships in Dubuque.
In Cedar Rapids, McGrath bought Zimmerman Auto Center - which included its Hyundai franchise - and the Zimmerman Collision Center last August.
The company further plans to build 10,100-square-foot used-car dealership at 1510 Collins Rd. NE. That project is estimated at $6.3 million.
McGrath dealerships began 1952.
