Geuder, Meril Harold
Meril Harold Geuder, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at Northbrook Manor following a long illness. Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Craig Bex. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family before the service from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Meril is survived by his brother, Richard (Pat) of Henderson, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and his brother, Roland Geuder.
Meril was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Guttenberg, the son of Earnest and Flonda (Hedeman) Geuder. He married Betty Jean Radeke on Feb. 21, 1947, in Guttenberg. In 1943, Meril and Betty came to Cedar Rapids, where he worked at Armstrong's and Cramer's department stores and Otis Footwear, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Elks Lodge 251 and Peace Lutheran Church.
Meril was an accomplished musician who played with various bands, including The Commanders. He was an amateur photographer who captured the grandeur of national parks and nature scenes.
