Opat, Barbara L.
Barbara L. Opat, 54, of Cresco, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Cresco. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm St., Cresco, with a Scripture service at the end, and one hour before services Monday at the church.
Barb was an exceptional grandma. Her grandsons brought great joy to her life. Barb's family knew her huge heart, that was overflowing with love, would get her in the end.
Surviving are her husband, Mark; daughter, Amanda (Mike) Bergan of Cresco, and their children, Landen, Ethan and Noah; son, Jeremy (Jessica) Opat of New Berlin, Wis., and their son, Garrett Edward; siblings, Peter (Karen) Phillips of Shueyville, Patty (Fred) Axmear of Decorah, Mark (special friend Barb) Phillips of Marion and Marcia (Lance) Radeke of Vinton; mother-in-law, Jannette Opat of Cresco; brother-in-law, Mick (Lori) Opat of Bluffton; sister-in-law, Jodene (Jeff) Van Dyke of Rochester, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Alex Trouten of Schley, Iowa.
