Leo James Mell, 61, of Norway, Iowa, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care in Belle Plaine.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Norway, with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Michael Parish Hall, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m., and will continue one hour before the service. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Norway.

Leo James was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Walker, Iowa, to Leo Edward and Loretta P. (Sherbon) Mell. Shortly after Leo was born the family moved to Norway, where he had lived ever since. He was a graduate of Norway High School, Class of 1974. He worked for 31 years for Quads Graphics in Marengo until retirement.
Leo was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, enjoyed playing pool with the Iowa Valley Pool League and loved baseball. Continuing the strong Norway baseball tradition, he was a Little League coach for 22 years. Leo was a Detroit Tigers baseball fan and Minnesota Vikings football fan.
He is survived by his brothers, Lynn (JoAnn) Mell, Lee (Michelle) Mell and Leon (Karolee) Mell, all of Norway; a sister, Linda (Dan) Conway of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and his special Dewey Street Ladies.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Mell.
Brosh Funeral Service of Norway is assisting Leo's family with the service. Leo's request is to dress casual.
