Gable, Elsie P.
Elsie P. Gable, 95, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Dec. 5, 2012, at The Meth-Wick Community / Meth-Wick Manor following an extended illness. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Resthaven section of Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Robert W. Gable and wife Karen of Avon, Ind.; a sister, Doris Loeff of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren, Susan Gable, Dr. Barbara Allen and Robert J.K. Gable; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Robert Gable.
Elsie Pearl Gable was born April 10, 1917, in Chicago, the daughter of Lloyd and Elsie Wilson Stone. She married Robert William Gable on April 29, 1939, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 2006. Following graduation from high school, she was employed in truck sales for over 40 years in the Cedar Rapids area. She worked with her husband as well as her father, Lloyd W. Stone, at Stone's Truck Service, the local GMC truck franchise.
Elsie was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church.
She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of East Central Iowa.
