Biskup, LaVerne A.
LaVerne A. Biskup, 89, of The Meth-Wick Community, died there Tuesday, March 19, 2013, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Karl William Biskup Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Texas City, Texas; two grandchildren, Kristin Pollock and Brent Biskup; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Pollock and Beau Biskup.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
LaVerne was born July 20, 1923, in Rush Springs, Okla., the daughter of George Dewey Sr. and Zelma (Smith) Shotts. She married Karl W. Biskup Sr. on Feb. 16, 1944, at Fort Sill, Okla. Karl died in 1986. She later married the Rev. Harold Sheppard on July 1, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2000.
LaVerne was a secretary for the Cedar Rapids school system for over 28 years, retiring in 1984. She was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church, the Hoover Bridge Club and did volunteer work at Wilson Grade School.
LaVerne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
