Craig Lee Perrin died peacefully of congestive heart failure in the comfort of his favorite chair at home on April 25, 2016, in Green Valley, Ariz. He was 81.
Mr. Perrin was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Elmer Ethra (Bill) Perrin and Ferne Lovelett Perrin of Inwood, Iowa. He was a graduate of University High School in Iowa City, Iowa, where he lettered in football and made lifelong friends. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee and helped build several airstrips, buildings, bridges and the like in the Philippines, Korea and Alaska.
He married Marlene Jorgensen in 1960 and started several successful Iowa City businesses in asphalt paving, telecommunications, and electrical cable burial and environmental remediation for pipelines. The Perrins divorced in 1977.
Mr. Perrin met his partner, Ella Wilson, in Ankeny in 1981. They lived in Iowa and Arizona until his death. They were great partners in life and traveled and enjoyed a happy and healthy retirement together for 33 years.
He was an avid golfer and in the last years of his life scored two holes-in-one at Quail Creek on Coyote No. 8 in Green Valley.
Mr. Perrin is survived by Ella Wilson and her family, Patti and Moreno Giannasi of Green Valley, Diane White of Boulder, Colo., and Craig Allen White of San Francisco, Calif.; and her five grandchildren, David Giannasi, Mark Giannasi, Rosalyn Pinon (Ernesto) and Eric Ebeling of Colorado and Lara Ebeling of Los Angeles, Calif., and one great-granddaughter, Isabela Pinon. Mr. Perrin also is survived by his two sons, Craig William of Hillsborough, N.C., and Thomas Grant of Iowa City; one granddaughter, Amelia Martine Perrin of Hillsborough, N.C.; and his sister, Lora Lynne Perrin of Olathe, Kan.
He will be missed most by his loyal cockapoo, Boomer.
Mr. Perrin will be buried at 1 p.m. May 5 at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. A remembrance will take place at a later date.
