Evelyn B. Seeley died Feb. 26, 2016, at Great River Care Center in McGregor after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 15, 1933, to Alfred and Anne (Maly) Sawall in Ottumwa, and adopted by Louis and Bertha (Cabalka) Blaha of Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Wilson High School and Coe College. She and James W. Seeley were married June 2, 1957.
Evelyn was a teacher and choir director and very active in her churches. She had a passion for music, gardening, birds and her many dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Sarah Seeley and husband Tom Mitzel, Mark and Christine (Gallagher) Seeley and Carrie and Daryl Baade; three grandchildren, William, Collin and Lydia Seeley; three stepgrandchildren, Sadie, Luke and Paige; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Memorial donations for the Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter may be sent to the family.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Great River Care Center, McGregor.
