Grapes, David Roy
UPDATED David Roy Grapes, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. today at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, by the Rev. William Harnish. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Military honors by American Legion Post 727.
Survivors include daughter, Melissa Sue Grapes VanMeter; son, Staff Sgt. Daniel Roy Grapes; two grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew; two brothers, Duane (Bev) Lentner and Richard (Jane) Grapes; sister, Connie Schmitz; and many nieces and nephews.
David was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Dysart, the son of Theodore and Wilma (Wentz) Grapes. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. David worked for Wilson/Farmstead Foods for 29 years and then as a cabdriver for Century Cab. He enjoyed hunting, mushrooming, and traveling to Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather, Ray Dixon.
