Bevill, Evelyn Marie
Evelyn Marie Bevill, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died early Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, by the Rev. William Harnish. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Joseph, of 70 years; children, Joanne Popelka of Ely and Bill (Vickie) of Alexandria, Minn.; grandchildren, Mark (Marlys Moses) Popelka of Ely, Rick Kaufman of Minneapolis and Christy (Tony) Krusemark of Hoffman, Minn.; great-granddaughters, Shelby, Maya and Madi Jo Krusemark; and sister-in-law, Anna Mae Vlasek of Cedar Rapids.
Evelyn was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, the only child of Frank and Hilda (Melichar) Shramek. She was raised in “Stumptown” and married Joseph E. Bevill on Aug. 30, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. Evelyn had worked at Wilson & Co. meat packing plant, Witwer Bottling and retired in 1984 from being one of “lunch ladies” at Wilson Junior High School.
Evelyn loved all types of flowers and kept a vegetable garden and many flower gardens at her home. She enjoyed traveling to Joe's military reunions and to Hawkeye games. Evelyn was also a former Kernels Booster Club member.
A memorial fund has been established in Evelyn's name.
