Grace Palmer, 95, passed away Nov. 9, 2016, at Heritage Nursing Home.
Grace was born in July 1921 to parents William and Anna (Urban) McQuiston in Colfax, Iowa. She was one of four children and the oldest daughter. In 1939, she graduated from Wilson High School. She worked her whole life at various Cedar Rapids businesses. In 1940, she married William Sowers, and in 1971, Bifford Palmer. For many years, she was a member of the Moose Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brother, Jim; her sister, Enid; and her nephew, Robert Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Skip) Wells, Susan (Bob Sangster) Guyer, Betty Carter and Mary Pirtle; her brother, Bill (LaVelle) McQuiston; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Burial will immediately follow the services.
