JAY STIMSON CLARK
Marion
On Feb. 14, 2021, with temperatures outside registering at – 10 degrees F, Jay Stimson Clark had enough and with his dogs warming his lap, he departed from this life at his home in Marion, Iowa.
Jay was born Sept. 19, 1952, in Portsmouth, Va., to Shirley and John Clark. Jay grew up in a Navy family, moving to many places around the world and in the U.S. Over his life, Jay lived in Virginia, Japan, the Azores, Turkey, Lebanon, Maryland, New York and Texas before coming to Iowa in 2001. While in Texas, Jay worked for many years as a computer programmer for John L. Wortham & Sons. In Iowa, he was employed by Toyota Financial until his retirement.
A musician, Jay played guitar with bands in Texas and was a big fan of the band Genesis. In Iowa, Jay was an avid trivia player and in pre-COVID-19 times was a regular presence at games at Third Base and other venues around town. A good father, brother and friend, Jay was always ready to lend a hand when it was needed and he will be missed.
Jay is survived by his son, Josh Clark of Marion; his brothers, John Clark-Hansen (Karen) of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Clark of Boise, Idaho; his niece, Meagan; nephew, Julian; his uncle, James Stimson (Dianne); and his aunt, Carol Pace.
Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Stimson Johnson; his father, John R. Clark; his former wife, Laura Clark; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
Per Jay's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
The family wishes to thank UnityPoint Hospice Care for their assistance during Jay's last weeks.
Memorial donations may be directed in Jay's memory to the UnityPoint Hospice Care or the charity of your choice.
