Wilson, Calvin W.
Calvin W. Wilson, 92, of the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, August 10, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by Dr. Terry Seufferlein. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, west of Alburnett. Military honors provided by American Legion Post #298 of Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wanda; two children, Connye (David) Vyverberg of Champaign, Ill., and Douglas (Lorie) Wilson of Altoona; two grandsons, Matthew (Stephanie) Vyverberg of Atlanta, Ga., and Ben Vyverberg of Campaign, Ill. He is also survived by cousins, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cal was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Meryl; a niece; a nephew; and a great- nephew.
Cal was born October 10, 1916, in Toddville, to William C. and Ethel (Lanning) Wilson. He graduated in 1934 from Toddville High School. He attended Kansas City College of Commerce and was drafted into the Army in 1941, serving on Active Duty until 1946. He remained in the Army Reserves until retiring in 1976. Cal worked for Collins Radio from 1946 to 1972 and at the University of Iowa until retirement.
He was a member of Central Church of Christ, Linn County Reserve Officers Association, and enjoyed a membership in S.C.O.R.E. for 28 years, during which he served as Chairman and District Representative.

Following burial, all family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Center Point Road Church of Christ, 3264 N. Center Point Road, 1/4 mile south of Midway.
