Galloway, William 'Bill' E.
William “Bill” E. Galloway, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, May 28, at Brosh Chapel.
William was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Eolia, Mo., the son of Floyd and Katheryn (Elliott) Galloway. Bill married Arlene L. Feuss on Oct. 18, 1951, in Troy, Mo. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954. Bill worked at Nash Finch Co., Wilson Co., and Farmstead Foods, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. Bill was a member of VFW Post 788 and Kingston Masonic Lodge.
Bill is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Arlene; children, Nancy (Duane) Newenham of Marion, James Galloway of Marion and Bill (Deb) Galloway Jr. of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Andrew, Jason and Megan Galloway, all of Cedar Rapids; one great-grandchild on the way; a special family friend, Dale Vargason of Marion; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Ben Galloway.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to family.
