McKay, William E. 'Bill'
The Lord called home one of His best, Mr. William E. “Bill” McKay, who passed away quietly at his home Friday, June 22, 2012.
William was born to the late Orris C. and Lelia Mardis McKay on Nov. 29, 1945, in Keokuk, Iowa. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn R. Wilson Dec., 22 1968, in Keokuk. She survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Shirley Jean Lillard, Keokuk, Mrs. Linda S. Curtis, Keokuk and Mrs. Sheila Kaplan (Phillip) of Cedar Rapids; and brother-in-law, Clarence Wilson (Dorris), Keokuk.
Also surviving is his brother of the heart and best friend, Robert A. Briggs and wife Sandy, three “grandchildren,” one “great-grandchild” and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, two nephews and one niece.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center, 917 Blondeau St., Keokuk. A graveside service and military rites will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Keokuk National Cemetery. A procession will leave from DeJong-Greaves at 10:45 a.m.
