Charles "Chuck" Richard Rinderknecht, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at his home.
A memorial service celebrating Chuck's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Steven Knudson
officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church before the memorial service. Inurnment at a later date will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Atkins.
Survivors include his daughter, Tricia (Chris) Johnson of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Dylan and Evan Johnson; mother, Dorothy Jensen of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Ronald Rinderknecht of Park City, Utah; sister, Renee (Samuel Mahaffy) Rinderknecht of Olympia, Wash.; several nieces and a nephew; as well as his extended Sherzer family.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Judy Boatwright; and stepfather, Raymond Jensen.
Chuck was born March 24, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Gardemann) Rinderknecht. He was a real estate agent for Iowa Realty for many years.
Chuck had a loving, kind and big heart. He was known for his integrity, honesty and willingness to help other people. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
