HIGH SCHOOL JOURNALISM: Wildcats impressive at own dual tournament

DELHI - Center Point-Urbana won a dual-meet wrestling tournament hosted by Maquoketa Valley on Saturday with the Wildcats finishing second.
Other teams in the field were Midland, Starmont, Dyersville Beckman and Monticello.
Maquoketa Valley finished 4-1 in the duals.
"Overall I was very impressed with how the guys performed given the fact it was almost a month since we last wrestled,' stated Coach Tim Andrews. 'I thought our conditioning was great and I was happy to see how far our technique has come since the beginning of the year."
The Wildcats opened with a 64-12 win over Midland. Helping get the points for MV were Tyler Yonkovic (forfeit), Greg Guetzko (pin), Carter Klostermann (forfeit), Jared Coyle (12-0 decision), Zach Cornell (forfeit), Dylan Wright (forfeit), Trevor Koopmann (pin), Steve Huber (pin), Alec McDowell (pin) and Ryan Parmely (forfeit).
Next, the Wildcats took on Starmont and won, 60-19. Winners were Klostermann (pin), Mason Hermanson (pin), Coyle (pin), Cornell (pin), Wright (pin), Huber (forfeit), McDowell (forfeit), Eric Heims (forfeit), Parmely (forfeit) and Yonkovic (forfeit).
CPU handed Maquoketa Valley its only loss of the day, a tough battle that ended with the Stormin' Pointers winning, 46-33. Hermanson (8-2 decision), Coyle (pin), Wright (pin), Koopmann (pin), Parmely (forfeit) and Yonkovic (pin) won for MV.
The Wildcats bounced back with a 48-27 win over the Beckman Blazers. Wrestlers who helped secure the win were Hermanson (pin), Cornell (pin), Jeremy Fischer (forfeit), Koopmann (10-3 decision), Huber (forfeit), McDowell (pin), Parmely (forfeit), Yonkovic (3-0 decision) and Guetzko (forfeit).
The team's last dual of the day was against Monticello and the Wildcats finished off the tournament by winning, 54-24. Individual winners were Coyle (7-2 decision), Cornell (forfeit), Fischer (forfeit), Koopmann (pin), Huber (forfeit), McDowell (pin), Heims (pin), Parmely (pin), Yonkovic (8-3 decision) and Guetzko (pin).
'Hopefully we can build off this momentum of picking up four dual victories and continue on getting better every day,' Andrews said.
