New district associate judge appointed for Johnson County

Sixth Judicial District judges appointed Assistant Linn County Attorney Jason Burns as the new district associate judge in Johnson County on Tuesday.
Burns will replace District Associate Judge Stephen Gerard, who recently retired. Gerard was appointed to the bench in 1995.
Burns is a 2002 graduated in 1999 from Truman State University and received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2002. He interned in the county attorney's office in the summer of 2001 and was hired full-time in 2002.
He will take the bench on Sept. 8.
