Joseph Dwayne Mann, 32, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 13, 2015, in Clarksburg, Tenn. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Joe was born July 6, 1983, in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up to be a fine young man in Cedar Rapids. Along with his family, Joe was influenced by his membership in Boy Scouts, Kennedy High School Band and his military career. Joe rose to the rank of Eagle Scout and after graduating high school in 2001, enlisted in the U.S. Army. Signing on before 9/11, he was stationed at Fort Knox, Fort Polk, Fort Riley and Fort Campbell. Joe was deployed for three tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant in December 2013 after becoming disabled on his last deployment.
Joe had a lifelong passion for mechanics and lived that passion to the fullest. He was a military mechanic and continued that profession as a civilian. On May 18, 2011, he married Mindy L. Moss in Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leroy and Selma Mann; uncle, Larry Mann; and aunt, Cheryl Mann.
He is survived by Mindy, and his children, Caila, Larry and Wyatt, of Clarksville, Tenn. Also surviving are his parents, Gary and Julie Mann of Lebanon, Tenn.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and Jacques Broodryk, and their children, Chloe and Ella, of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Sally and Buddy Dodd, and their children, Karrington, John and Anna, of Lebanon, Tenn.; grandparents, Eugene and Alma McNamara of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles, Tom and Carol McNamara, Jan and Jeff, and Susan and Tom Krecji, all of Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Justin Andrews of Council Bluffs, Michael Melson of Cedar Rapids and Alison Andrews of Omaha, Neb.; in-laws, Kristan and Bob Connolly of Council Bluffs and Howard Andrews of Cedar Rapids; grandmother-in-law, Carol Toyne of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous great-aunts and cousins scattered all across the U.S.
