Letter: Find significance of the resurrection

Easter. A Christian festival commemorating the resurrection of Christ, so says my dictionary.

Why is it we see more people at Easter and at Christmas than other times of the year in church?

Could it be our dictionaries left it up to us, individually, to read the Bible to find out the significance of His resurrection? What's in it for you? What's in it for me?

Unequivocally, it will be the most significant thing you do in your life. More important than your death, itself.

I believe most people believe God created man in his own image: Intellect, emotion, self-will. What about your eternal soul? According to the first chapter of the first book of the Bible, it does matter.

I don't know about you, but I spent the first part of my life trying to return God the favor for creating me. (Going to church, putting money in the plate, trying to follow the Golden Rule, even reading my Bible on Sundays.) And, like the vast majority of people in the U.S. today, when asked, 'Are you going to heaven when you die?” I could only respond, ' ... I hope so.”

Catch this. God the Father did not send his only begotten son (all man, yet all God) to the cross and die for your sins, for my sin, for us to say, ' ... I hope so.”

Jesus, now is my savior. Will you let him become your savior?
