Evelyn C. Holdgrafer, 103, of Marion, died of natural causes Friday, April 24, 2015, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion by Father David O'Connor. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Joleen Holdgrafer of Marion and Dennis (Ann) Holdgrafer of Marion; and one granddaughter, Meghan Holdgrafer of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Holdgrafer, who died in 2010; one sister, Josephine Brown; and two brothers, Cel and Alvin Berding.
Evelyn was born Oct. 28, 1911, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of August and Dena (Determan) Berding. On May 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to Henry Holdgrafer at St. Bonaface Church in Clinton. Evelyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be directed to St. Joseph Catholic School in Marion to be used for tuition scholarships in Evelyn's memory.
