Weaver, Nelda L.
Nelda L. Weaver, 82, of 3900 Midway Dr. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at home. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Joe Kane.
Survivors include her children, John Weaver Jr. of Henderson, Nev., Richard Weaver of Cedar Rapids and Laurie Weaver of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Martin Jennings of Springville; and sister, Irma O'Connor of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Jack; parents; granddaughter, Dawn Weaver; and siblings, Rozel Kelly, Clarence Witt, Walt Witt, Dell Witt, Marie Shrogen, Ray Witt, Charlotte Schave, Donna Jones, John Witt Jr. and Darlene Haugen.
Born Dec. 27, 1929, in Ossian, Iowa, Nelda was the daughter of John and Nellie (Thornton) Witt. On May 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jack Weaver in Decorah, Iowa. He died July 28, 2010.
Nelda was the Skip-bo Queen and enjoyed researching genealogy, crossword puzzles, baking cooking, canning and was famous for her blackberry jelly.
