Carl Alan Adkins, Ph.D., retired English professor of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, died Jan. 27, 2017, in Asheville, N.C.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; sons, Charles Adkins-Blanch (Sara) of Arlington, Va., and Scott Adkins (Erin) of Brooklyn, N.Y; daughter, Marcia Heeren (Ron) of Sioux City, Iowa; stepchildren, Sarah (Neal) Gershon of Chicago, Sue Stoveall of Aurora, Colo., and Steven Alter (Michelle O'Connor) of Iowa City, Iowa; five grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
