JULIE HUTCHCROFT-BENNETT
Tama
Julie Anne Hutchcroft-Bennett, 59, of Tama, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, from complications of leukemia. Funeral service: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Oliphant Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Roger; her mother, Bonnie Hutchcroft; brothers, Jay, Jack and Joe; sisters, Mary, Sue and Laureen; son, Larry (Jeff); daughter, Bonnie; stepchildren, Brian, Lisa and Brent; her "kids," Keith and Sally; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Julie was born June 2, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, to Junior and Bonnie Hutchcroft. She graduated with a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Iowa in 2006. Julie married Larry Knowles on May 5, 1973. They later divorced. She then married Roger Bennett on April 6, 1990.
She enjoyed buckskinning, hunting and fishing, painting and drawing, singing in the concert chorale and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren who meant everything to her. She also loved carousel horses and the cartoon character, Betty Boop, after whom she named her faithful dog. Julie had a heart of gold and took in several less fortunate "adopted" kids and grandkids. She will be missed tremendously!
Her family wishes to give a special thank you to the doctors and staff at 4JPE of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
She was preceded in death by her father, Junior; infant son, Tristan; infant grandson, Travis; mother-in-law, Darlene; and sister-in-law, Robin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bonnie Shelton, in care of Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
Please share your support and condolences with Julie's family on her celebration wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
