Ella L. Riser, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Mercy Hallmar, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the funeral home conducted by SanDee Skelton. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn (John) O'Connor and Cindy (Glenn Lonsdale) Starks; grandchildren, Mark Kelly, Katie Starks, Lynell, Gina and Nathan O'Connor; and great-grandchildren, Amber, Cadyn, Steele and Daylan; and brothers-in-law, Charles (Esther) Riser and Ronald (Wilma) Riser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; grandson, Shannon Starks; brothers, Victor (Genevieve) Buker, Peter (Irene) Buker, Melvin (Eleanor) Buker and Bill (Darlene) Buker; and sister, Camilla (Robert) Webber.
Ella was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Francis and Elsie (Mickelson) Buker. On Sept. 6, 1945, George and Ella Riser were united in marriage in Lisbon. She started working for National Oats when she was 16 and worked there for 10 years until becoming a full-time housewife. Ella loved being a mother, grandmother and housewife. She enjoyed crocheting, making doilies, afghans, crafts and also going to garage sales. Ella wintered in Florida for 33 years with her husband, George.
The family wants to give a special thank you for the excellent care by Hospice of Mercy and Mercy Hallmar.
