Bruce Frantz, 69, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the VA Health Care System in Sioux Falls.
Bruce Edward Frantz was born March 5, 1946, in Anamosa, Iowa. He grew up in Springville, Iowa. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following discharge in 1967, he returned to Eastern Iowa and attended Kirkwood Community College. After living in various places throughout the United States, he returned to Iowa City and began volunteering at the VA Health Care System as his health would allow.
He met Nancy Korthals of George, Iowa, and the two were united in marriage on June 4, 1994. Bruce and Nancy moved to Sioux Falls, where he continued volunteering for the local VA hospital. He logged more than 35,000 hours of volunteer work with the VA system before ill health forced him to fully retire.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Nancy Frantz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; his brother, David (Shari) Frantz; his sister, Peg (Neal) Armstrong; parents-in-law, Harold and Ardis Korthals; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Doug Kimm, Dixie Frantz, Jim O'Connor, Ruth (Tim) Kruger, Judy (Daryl) Arzdorf and David (Twyla) Korthals; and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and June Frantz; his brother, Roger Frantz; and twin sisters, Barbara O'Connor and Beverly Kimm.
