Barbara Wilkinson, 88, of Marengo, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Marengo, with Father Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with a rosary recited at 4 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Barbara is survived by her son, John Jr. and wife Jennifer of Germantown, Tenn.; and her daughter, Leslie of Marengo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 2012; and two sisters, Shirley Mort and Marge Larson.
Barbara Tompkins was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin F. Tompkins and Edna Randolph Tompkins. She attended Marengo schools. She and John Wilkinson were united in marriage on Nov. 8, 1946, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Marengo.
She worked at Amana Refrigeration during John's time in the service. They moved to Laughlin, Nev., in 1986, at the time of John's retirement. He passed away Aug. 13, 2012, and Barbara and Leslie returned to Marengo shortly after.
Barbara enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She spent her free time playing bridge, video poker, reading and traveling.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Marengo.
