O'Connor, Jean L.

Jean L. O'Connor, 71, formerly of the Oxford area, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Ill. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery near Oxford. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Jean L. Farmer was born May 25, 1939, in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Eugene L. and Violet L. (Palmer) Farmer. Mrs. “O” retired in 2009 from Santa Maria del Popolo School in Mundelein, Ill., after more than 27 years of service. She had been a teacher's aide, librarian and also facilitated the after school program at Santa Maria. Jean enjoyed playing penny slots, loved helping children and adored her grandchildren.

Her family includes her husband, Bernard “Barney” O'Connor; their children, Michael (Tanya) O'Connor and Kelly O'Connor; grandchildren, Lucas, Nicholas, R.J. and Kylie; and her brothers, William “Bill” (Sheila) Farmer and Stanley (Jean) Farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her stepfather, Carl Dalton.
