David Ross Carson was born Dec. 8, 1947, at Mercy Iowa City, the son of Ross C. and Margaret (Fuhrmeister) Carson. Following graduation from Regina High School, he began his career on the farm, his life's passion and second love. His first being his wife, Maureen, whom he had been married to for over 43 years, and their family! Dave was a man of the soil and all that came with being a farmer. He especially appreciated raising cattle, nurturing them from birth to market. Dave loved the outdoors in so many other ways too, an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved family pinics and bonfires. He had that quick wit and great sense of humor and was even good in the kitchen as he enjoyed cooking for family and friends!
His family includes his wife; Maureen; daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Roger Edwards of Iowa City and Amy and Charlie Trachta of Martelle; son and his wife, Travis and Heather Carson of Solon; grandchildren, Kelly and Megan Edwards, Josh, Mathew and Ashley Trachta, Ross Carson and Colton Hansel; brother and his wife, Russell and Shirley Carson of Solon; nieces, Jean (Steve) Wilson of Iowa City, Cindy (Craig) Walker of West Branch and Valerie (Phil) Hughes of Lovilia; and nephews, Terry (Cindy) Carson of Fairfax and Rodney (Becky) Stanfield of Ridgebury, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Stanfield.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Dave's family and his services.
