CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels announced Wednesday that Greg Seyfer has been named the new president of the Midwest League club.
The Kernels board of directors voted Seyfer to the post at their scheduled meeting. Seyfer, a local attorney, replaces Gary Keoppel.
Greg Churchill has been elected the club's vice president.
'The board of directors thank Gary for serving as the club's president for the past five years,” Seyfer said in a press release. 'He has done a tremendous job in leading the implementation of the organization's strategic plan of supporting the community, building a solid financial foundation, and preserving and promoting the game of baseball.”
'I've enjoyed my time as President of the Cedar Rapids Ball Club and look forward to continuing to contribute and support the organization”, said Keoppel. 'I am confident that Greg Seyfer will do a great job of leading the club.”
The Kernels also announced a restructuring of the club's front office. Doug Nelson goes from General Manager to Chief Executive Officer of the Cedar Rapids Ball Club, overseeing the Kernels, Waterloo Bucks and Kernels Concessions.
Scott Wilson has been promoted from Assistant General Manager to General Manager. Dan Corbin will remain GM of the Bucks.
