MARION - On Monday night, the Linn-Mar school board accepted the resignation of longtime board member Ann Stark, who is moving to Ohio.
Stark plans to work for Hylant, an insurance broker in Cleveland, and rejoin her husband, who moved to Ohio previously to become vice president at Case Western Reserve University.
The resignation will be effective Jan. 26. At that time, the board will have 30 days to appoint a new member or 60 days to conduct a special election to complete Stark's term, which expires this fall.
Stark, who was initially elected to the Linn-Mar board in September 2002, served as vice president from 2006 to 2009 and as president from
2009 to 2011.
Stark made the original board motion that resulted in the passage of a
$27.5 million bond issue in 2006 and also stood behind the school infrastructure local option sales tax measure that was passed in the metro area in 2007.
Those two measures provided funding for the majority of Linn-Mar's recent facility expansions, including Oak Ridge Middle School; the high school's Colton Music Center; Linn Grove, Echo Hill and (the new) Novak elementary schools; and the district's all-purpose stadium, baseball/softball complex and aquatic center.
