Marion E. Hosch, 87, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade.
Friends and relatives of Marion may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friends also may call on Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marion will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
She was born March 11, 1930, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Nick and Carrie (Kurt) Kleitsch. She received her elementary education at Bones Prairie country schools, and graduated from the former St. Mary's High School in Cascade. She was united in marriage on Sept. 27, 1951, to Robert P. Hosch at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade. She worked for Ensign Coil in Cascade and ERTL and Scale Models in Dyersville, and retired in 1991.
Marion had a love for cooking, and enjoyed plants, flowers and completing crossword puzzles.
She was a member of St. Matthias Parish. She was a leader for the Girl Scout Brownies for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Hosch of Cascade; four daughters, Ruth Green of Cascade, Karen (John) Pearsall of San Diego, Calif., Ann (Mark) Holmes of Dubuque, Iowa, and Carla (Ron) Hoffman of Cascade; eight grandchildren, Abby Archer, Andrew Green, Kirsten Kirkpatrick, Owen and Aaron Holmes, and Max, Haylee and Trace Hoffman; 11 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Leona Onken Sr., Ruth Kleitsch and Wilfred (Rita) Kleitsch, all of Monticello, and Edwin and Irvin Kleitsch, both of Cascade; and one sister-in-law, Sr. Jane Hosch of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Hosch; one son-in-law, Thomas Green; one brother, Carl (Mary) Kleitsch; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Doloris Kleitsch, Verna Kleitsch, Carol Kleitsch, Alve Onken, Pauline (Mel) Green, Mary Alma Hosch, Edward Hosch, James Hosch and Charles Hosch.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff of River Bend Retirement Center, Shady Rest Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all the wonderful care and support they gave to Marion.
