MERLE BEESON
Iowa City
Merle Beeson of Iowa City passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1938, the son of Benjamin and Catherine Beeson. He graduated from East Moline High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1959. He was stationed out of Norfolk, Va. He married Angela Baele on July 27, 1957. They had three children together. He worked for several years at Collins Radio, which became Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, where he worked his way up through various levels of management.
Merle was married a second time to Linda Davis from 1964 to 1968 and they had one child together. He spent the majority of his life in the Iowa City area.
Cremation rights were performed by Iowa Cremation. Interment will be held on the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date.
He is survived by a sister, Kathy (Sam) Gasaway of Splendora, Texas; three sons, Matt (Dottie) Beeson, Davenport, Mark (Linda) Beeson, Moline, Ill., and Brett (Shelly) Beeson, Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Selena (Joe) De Geeter, Davenport; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin.
