Jeffery Lynn DeMar, 57, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Solon, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
Jeffery was born Dec. 8, 1958, in Iowa City, the son of Francis and Norma "Deone" (Rhoades) DeMar. He attended and graduated from Solon High School. Jeff worked at various restaurants in Solon most of his life. He enjoyed watching old Westerns and sports, including the Hawkeyes, Packers and Cardinals.
Jeff is survived by his siblings, JoAnne (Earl) Ernst of Marion, Judy (Terry) McDougal of Cedar Rapids, Dodie DeMar of Solon, Joe (Karon) DeMar of Dyersville and Kay (Rich) Fulkerson of Princeton, Ill.; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenny DeMar; and a brother, Jack Damien DeMar in infancy.
