James Roy Buck II, who was born Dec. 20, 1969, passed away suddenly Sunday morning, April 15, 2018, at his home.
He graduated from Iowa City West High School with the class of 1988 and attended Kirkwood Community College. He was the broker/owner of "The Firm" Real Property Services in Solon and also served the community as a volunteer for the Johnson County Foster Care Review Board. James was a faithful partner and dedicated father whose life revolved around his boys. He was caring, loving, well-respected, and loved fast cars. He was an animal lover, had shown quarter houses and had a vibrant, infectious personality. He was loved by all who knew him.
James is survived by his partner of 30 years, William Evanson; his sons, Gianni James Roy Buck and Luis William James Buck; brother, John Buck (Katie); and sister, Carolyn (Dennis) McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Rhea J. Evanson; his mother-in-law, Rhea A. Evanson; nieces, Chelsey Hovden (Chris) and their children, Chase and Charlie Jo, and Kelly Sarrazin; nephews, Tyler (Jamee) Buck, Hamish McLaughlin and Peter (Tara) Sarrazin and their sons, Brenden and Preston.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy Buck and Marie N. Buck; and father-in-law, Eugene Evanson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City, where visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
