Worrell, Gary L.
Gary L. Worrell, 56, of Iowa City, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, in his home from a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with a 7 p.m. parish vigil. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Gary was born April 16, 1953, in Iowa City, the son George and Minnie Petersen Worrell. He served in the U.S. Navy. Gary liked to play cards, fish and listen to his music.
Gary was a very kind and giving man and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Gary is survived by his mother, Minnie of Solon; his siblings, Ronnie (Donna) Worrell of Solon, Dick (Betty) Worrell of Cedar Rapids, Arlene Jennings of Cedar Rapids, Darlene Griffith of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Bev) Worrell of Solon, RoseAnn (Terry) Michel of Oxford and Linda M. (Kevin) Manary of Solon; as well 26 nieces and nephews and 52 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, George; and brothers-in-law, James Jennings and Thomas Griffith.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon in his name.
