Gienapp, Gloria Ann
Gloria Ann Gienapp, 76, of Anamosa, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, surrounded by her family in her home. There will be a celebration of life gathering at Scott, Cristin, and Lyndsay Gienapp's home at 345 Deerwood Dr. in Anamosa on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. There also will be memorial services at 11 a.m. Monday at First Congregational Church in Anamosa. The Rev. Mike Williams will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Glen; her children, Ron (Paula) of Woodbridge, Va., Deb (Steve) Brinkman of Wyoming, Iowa, Don (Sue) of Albany, Ill., and Lisa (Randy) Lewis and Scott (Cristin), both of Anamosa; her siblings, Jerry, Leon and Kay Thomsen; grandchildren, Cameron and Connyr Lewis, Jenni (Carl) Williams, Jeff (Kristine) Brinkman, Lyndsay Gienapp, Trish (Brian) Hoff and Josh (Lynn) Wagoner; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Gordon Thomsen and Loren Dooley.
Gloria was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Reinbeck, the daughter of Ervin and Leona (Petersen) Thomsen. She married her husband of 57 years, Glen R. Gienapp, on July 16, 1954, in Manchester. Gloria and Glen lived in Wyoming, Iowa for 32 years before moving to Anamosa. She retired from Emerson in the early 1990s.
Gloria loved spending time with her family and trips to the casino and mini trips to eat out. She treasured her family the most.
Memorials can be established to the Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab at Jones County Regional Hospital or Above and Beyond Hospice.
