Gary Porter Catlett, 67, of Knox, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at his home.
Gary was born April 10, 1947, in Jones County, Iowa, to Gail and Selma (Antons) Catlett, both deceased. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, and a longtime member of the North Judson American Legion and San Pierre Volunteer Fire Department.
On June 18, 1999, he married Theresa Alexander M.D. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Todd Catlett (Rita) of Nichols, Kim Shepherd (Gerald) of Winamac, Ind., Heather Noble (Jason) of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Greg Catlett of Sevierville, Tenn.; stepchildren, Martin Alexander (Judy) of Peru, Ind., Tracy Alexander (Nellie) of Knox, Ind., Barb Alexander of Virginia and Caroline Alexander of Portage, Ind.; sisters, Sally Edwards of Amber, Jan Thompson (Gary) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Gerie Starry (Don) of Monticello, Kathy Sauer (Randy) of Olin, Linda Kreger (Jon) of Olin, Jane Maizel of Olin and Terri Schmit of Olin; 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. (CT) Friday, Sept. 5, at New Hope Baptist Church in Knox. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Info: www.mcsmithfh.com.
