Wagner, Thelma Marie Miller

Thelma Marie Miller Wagner, 84, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Rapids. Thelma's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Thelma will be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Friends may call today from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet and husband Alan Dohmen, Mechanicsville; two grandsons, Mark (Kylee), Mechanicsville, and Randy (Kate), West Des Moines; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Connor, Finn and Bella.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Francis and Richard Miller; sister, Retha Eichhorn; and special friend, Dale Hefflefinger.

Thelma was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Jones County, to Urban and Verda (Russell) Miller. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School and married Erwin Wagner on Feb. 16, 1947, in Iowa City. He died Dec. 31, 1995. In Thelma's early years, she helped her husband on the farm.

She was an excellent mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cook, homemaker, and avid gardener.

A memorial fund is established.
