Goetz, Maxine Marie
Funeral services for Maxine Marie Goetz, 79, formerly of Tipton, who died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, will be held Friday, Sept. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with Pastor Ronald Lashmit officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
Maxine Anderson Goetz was born July 5, 1932, in Huron Township, Des Moines County, Iowa, the daughter of Richard A. and Mary H. (Watkins) Anderson. She was a 1949 graduate of Mediapolis High School. Maxine married Donald K. Goetz on Dec. 31, 1951, and was blessed with five beautiful children. They later divorced. Maxine lived in Tipton for 44 years before moving to Iowa City to live with her daughter.
Maxine worked for Fields Lumber Co. for 20 years, followed by Family Foods, retiring in 2007 due only to her battle with cancer.
Maxine is survived by her children: Pam Goetz-Jones of Tipton, Mike (Denise) Goetz of Tipton, Randy (Julie) Goetz of Anamosa, Ginny (Rusty) Mizaur of Hahira, Ga., and Tracy Goetz of Iowa City; her special dog, Maggie; grandchildren, Bryan (Jennie) Jones, Lacy (Ben) Hermiston, Brad, Alicia, Ashley, Jordan and Paige Goetz, Nick, Austin and Miranda Mizaur; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Carter and Zach Jones and Zoie Hermiston; sister, Franny (Gene) Venghaus of Morning Sun; brother, Ronnie (Janis) Anderson of Rockford, Ill.; nieces, Cathy (Randy) Jones of Wapello and Vicki (Kirk) Delzell of Morning Sun; and nephew, Rick Venghaus of Morning Sun.
In death, she was rejoined with her parents; sister, JoAnn Jones; brother, Virgil Anderson; nephew, Jeff Jones; brother-in-law, Robert Jones; and special dog, Nellie.
She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
