CEDAR RAPIDS — Details of a major summer festival are expected to be announced Monday by GO Cedar Rapids, the agency that promotes tourism in the city.
'What has excitement, fun, world-class entertainment, learning, celebs and much more and will be happening in Cedar Rapids in August?' the organization teased this week on Twitter.
The dates given for the event, Aug. 3-5, coincide with a festival announced on social media last year called Newbo Evolve. GO Cedar Rapids described the festival as celebrating 'all things Bohemian including music, art, dance, fashion and writing along with coding and robotics' in its application for a trademark.
In an interview last August, GO Cedar Rapids Executive Director Aaron McCreight described the festival being planned then as a 'signature event' in the city.
'It would be a festival, music, art, speaking series, more than anything ever attempted here, quite honestly, and certainly by our organization,' he said then.
GO Cedar Rapids has called a 10 a.m. Monday news conference and will provide details at @GO_CedarRapids.
