Ann Lund Gottschalk, 97, of Lowden, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, in the Clarence Nursing Home. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden, with the Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Survivors include children, Donald (Deanna) of Olin, Phyllis St. John of Stanwood, Dennis (Elaine) of Cave City, Ark., Steven Gottschalk of Lowden and Dwight (Connie) Gottschalk of Lowden; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Shirley Hansen of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; brother, Kenneth Lund; son-in-law, Art St. John; great-grandson, Blayne Benefield; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Ann was born April 20, 1918, in Lowden, the daughter of William and Martha Ricklef Lund. She was raised on a farm outside of Massillon and attended country schools. She was a good student and even won the county spelling bee one year. She was united in marriage to Herman Gottschalk on Sept. 3, 1937. He passed away in 2000.
Ann cleaned houses and did washing and ironing for many people along with raising five children. She loved tending her flower gardens, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.
