Muriel Elizabeth (Finley) Baer passed away July 6, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She was 88 years old.
Muriel was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Elkhorn, Walworth County, Wis., to Ruth Willamina (Breaser) and Merrill James Finley. She had one brother, Lowell James Finley. In 1948, she married Walter Lavern Baer, and they were later divorced.
Muriel had four children, Mary Louise Shaffer (Ron), Herman John Baer (Buster), Charles Edward Baer (Kelly) and Christina Marie Baer; four grandchildren, Robert, Christopher, Bryan and Johnny Lee; and four great-grandchildren.
She moved from Wisconsin in 1961 to raise her young family. She lived in the Ely, Cedar Rapids and Marion area. Muriel worked at Mercy Medical Center for 25 years in the SPD and laundry departments until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; her son, Herman; her daughter, Christina; and her grandson, Johnny.
She is survived by her two children, Mary and Charles.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
