Blankenhagen, Heinz Herman
Heinz Herman Blankenhagen, 75, of Martelle, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 23, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. The Rev. Sean Hansen will officiate at the service. Internment will be at the Norwich cemetery, in rural Martelle. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving is his wife, Karin of Martelle; a son, Daniel of Martelle; two sisters, Gertrude Patterson of Chariton, and Judy (Dale) Fisher of Hubbard; and a brother, Paul (Dora) of Woodburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard (1988); and a brother-in-law, Eddy Patterson
Heinz Herman Blankenhagen was born March 30, 1936, in Petersburg, Neb. He was the son of Paul and Gertrude Thiele Blankenhagen. Heinz graduated from Chariton High School. On Oct. 6, 1957, Heinz and Karin Karlson were united in marriage at Highland Park Evangelical Church in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon for the past five years, the Eastern Iowa DX Association, ARRL for more than 50 years and past member of the Cedar Amateur Astronomers Club.
