Jim, known to friends as Frick, was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of Arlo and Rose Mary Leeney Rogers. He attended St. Patrick's School and was a graduate of Regina High School. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force. On Aug. 10, 1968, Jim married Reda Harkins in Midwest City, Okla.
Jim was employed at Pearson for over 45 years, where he was a senior machine coordinator. He was the most senior of employees, because of his number of years of service to Pearson.
Jim enjoyed playing euchre and golfing with friends. He was an avid Hawkeye supporter and Cubbie fan. Jim was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Eagles Lodge, where each holiday season he was the much loved “Santa Claus.” His granddaughter, Rylie, was the apple of his eye.
Jim is survived by his wife, Reda, and their three children and one granddaughter, Jeff Rogers and John Rogers, both of Iowa City, and Shannon (Matt) Purdy of Cedar Rapids and their daughter Rylie; his brother, Richard (Kathleen) Rogers of Iowa City; and his sister, Leanne (John) Schaab of Davenport.; and nieces and nephews and cousins.
