Amber Herman, 82, of Tipton, formerly of Anamosa and Manchester, died Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton, following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.

Surviving are five children, James (Cindy), Oxford Junction; Ronald, Hopkinton; Sharon (Stuart) Clark, Tipton; Donald (Lucia), Anamosa; and Sheryl (Duane) McDonald, Anamosa; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lelis (Sheldon) Knuth, Eureka Springs, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David; a grandson, David V.; and two brothers.
Amber June Cole was born June 9, 1934, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of John and Flossie Clendenen Cole. Amber attended school in Greeley and later Onieda High School. Amber married Albert Herman in April 1951. She worked as a waitress at various cafes and at the bakery in Manchester.
She also helped her husband with his plumbing business. She moved to Anamosa in 1998 and her health resulted in her moving to the care center in 2012.
When she was able, Amber loved to go fishing. She also enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Her smile would light up a room.
