Herman, Karen Kay
Karen Kay Herman, 53, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Pastor John Seitz.
Survivors include her husband, Larry D. Herman; three children, Jessica (Steven) Mahlstedt of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Brandon (Jami) Kasemeier of Decorah and Jasmine (Skyler) Leat of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Heaven, Bradley, Jenaya, Caiden, Carter and one on the way; and a brother, Gary Zeibarth.
Karen was born Jan. 11, 1957, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Zeibarth in Charles City. She first married Bradley Kasemeier on Feb. 17, 1994. He died Feb. 28, 1994. On Oct. 28, 2006, she married Larry D. Herman in Cedar Rapids. Karen worked as a manager at Hardee's and at Rolling Hills.
Karen enjoyed traveling, shopping, going to the race track and rooting for Arlo Becker. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
