The Masters' famous pimento cheese sandwich
Mike Hlas Apr. 10, 2011 10:51 am
You who have heard of the Masters' tradition have heard of green jackets, Amen Corner and azaleas.
Something that towers above it all, however, is the pimento cheese sandwich. It comes in a Masters green wrapper, it sells for $1.50 at Masters concession stands. We in the media get them for free. Yet, I seldom see anyone grab one. Because the media center has actual other food, like salads and fruit and meat and some of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever tasted.
However, I have eaten more than few of these pimento cheese sandwiches. I'm not sure why. I'm a sucker for tradition, I guess. It certainly isn't for health benefits. White bread, mayonnaise and processed cheese? Don't tell my doctor.
These aren't as bad as my snapshot makes them look. They aren't a lot better, though.
