Solon
Herman G. Stout, 80, of Solon, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Herman was born Feb. 2, 1934, in West Branch, owa, the son of Gerald and Blanche (Cihla) Stout. He served in the United States Army. He married Ellen Cilek on May 1, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Solon.
Herman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen; a son, Tom (Janice) of Solon; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Kaefring of Solon and Jeanette (Jeff) Stewart of Davenport; grandchildren, Evan and Jordan Stout, Whitney, Adam (Stephanie) and Hillary Kaefring and Jacob and Rachel Stewart; and siblings. Joyce (John) Zaruba, Jeannie (Keith) Jennings, Lyle (Jan) Stout, Robert (Joann) Stout, Wayne Stout and Gary Stout.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Beverly Stout (Wayne).
Memorial contributions will be used for Solon High School students to further their education.
